Munsiyari is a popular hill station in Pithoragarh district at 2,200 m (7,200 ft) above sea level in Kumaon Himalaya. Munsiyari is surrounded with snow covered peak attracting tourists, mountaineers, glacier enthusiasts, high altitude trekkers and nature lovers. It is situated on the banks of Goriganga river.

Munsiyari is popular with high altitude trekkers and adventure enthusiasts as this place are the base of Milam, Ralam and Namik Glaciers. Trekkers use this place as a base camp.
Munsiyari was an important part of the ancient route for trade with Tibet which is ended after the 1962 war with China. Earlier Munsiyari was a restricted area in the Himalayan Inner Line because it is between the borders of India, China and Nepal. Restrictions have now eased, placing Munsiyari on the trekking map of the Kumaon Hills.
In the winter, you can be a part of the famous Makar Sankranti celebrations, which is organised in mid-January. Jaulajibi is a fair held every November where people from all over the world come to trade and participate.
Amongst the top places to visit in the Munsiyari is Birthi falls, Maheshwari Kund, Madkot, Nanda Devi Temple, Panchachuli peak, Khaliya top, Thamri Kund etc.

HOW TO REACH
By Road- Munsiyari is connected with major cities of Uttarakhand State. can be reached by using local taxis. Buses are available from Haldwani and Tanakpur in morning. One can also use direct Bus from Delhi to Munsiyari through Anand Vihar Bus Stand during the afternoon. Since the journey from Delhi to Munsiyari is quite long, it is advisable to break your journey at various stops and finally change the bus from either Almora or Pithoragarh.
By Air- Pantnagar airport is the nearest airport to Munsiyari lying at a distance of 249 km. Naini Saini Airport in Pithoragarh at a distance of 213 km is the other option, however, the flight are not that frequent from this airport.
BY RAIL- Kathgodam (275 km) and Tanakpur (286 km) are the two best options of the nearest railway head to reach Munsiyari via rail. These stations are well connected to many major cities via good rail network. Cabs and buses can be hired from outside the station till Munsiyari.
1. Birthi falls is an amazing waterfall of 126 m high which is 35 km from Munsiyari and has a short trek.

2. Nanda Devi Temple is just 1.5 km from the town of Munsiyari with short trek, this temple is located in a wide open meadow that provides an awe-inspiring view of the Panchachuli peaks.
3. Maheshwari Kund is a beautiful lake around 10 km from Munsiyari which is high religious significance for Hindu.
4. Thumri Kund is a freshwater lake 7 km before Munsiyari there is a Hanuman temple from there it' has 3 km up down trek.
