A holy town and district located at the confluence of rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini which is one of the five sacred confluences in Garhwal Uttarakhand.
Legends believe that Lord Narad Muni worshipped here to please Lord Shiva in order to teach him the mysteries of music. Lord Shiva was pleased with him and appeared in his Rudra avatar and thought his music in the Rudranath temple. We can see pictures of Lord Narad with a Rudra garland around his neck and singing praises of Lord Shiva. So the place came to be known as Rudraprayag.
BEST TIME TO VISIT-
Best time to visit Main Rudraprayag is October to March( other visiting places in Rudraprayag district has different best time). Summer is from April to June with the maximum temperature of around 36 °C and has maximum no of the visitor.
Monsoon have heavy rainfall so we recommend avoiding monsoon but if you preferer greenish natural beauty then monsoon and the post-monsoon period is the best time for you
Winter is extremely cool with a minimum temperature of 0°C and most of the tourist spots in Rudraprayag are even cooler then main Rudraprayag but those tourist spots treat you with snowfall in winters and look marvelous.
1. Deoria Tal
Deoria Tal is a beautiful lake also known as Devaria or Deoriya, standing at 2,438 meters (7,999 ft) above sea level from where you can see the glorious view of white Himalayas, reflections of Chaukhamba Range in the crystal clear water., camp stay and snow in winters.
2. Tungnath Temple
Tungnath temple is highest Shiva Temple in the world which is located at an altitude of 3,680 m (12,073 ft). The temple is one of the Panch Kedars. The famous Tungnath temple is thought to be over 1000 years old and, according to the scriptures, this temple is constructed by Pandavas after the Kurukshetra War.
3. Koteshwar Temple
The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a cave temple on the banks of the river Alaknanda. Several naturally formed idols can be found in the temple. It is believed that Lord Shiva meditated in these caves found in the temple.
