Baijnath temple, Bageshwar

At the banks of the Gomti river in Garuda Valley, Baijnath Temple is a venerable shrine of Uttarakhand. The temple is stationed 16.5 km from Kausani and 22 Km from Bageshwar .it is said that the temple had been constructed through Kumaon Katyuri King in 1150 A.D. dedicated to lord Shiva.The place is most mentioned for its historical temples . Baijnath turned into the capital of Katyuri Kings, who dominated the region from seventh-11th century ad, then it was known as Kartikeyapura and lies within the centre of Katyur valley. it's far believed that Lord Shiva and Parvati were married on the conflux of River Gomti and Garur Ganga.
